The team at Chandler Court welcomed the people of Bromsgrove to enjoy Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative set up to develop lasting relationships between care homes and local communities, and to dispel common myths about care home life.
The home marked the occasion by throwing a royal-inspired party in honour of the Queen’s 92nd birthday. Two friendly therapy ponies paid a special visit to the home to mark the occasion, and residents and visitors were delighted to be able to get up close and personal with the animals.
The fun-filled afternoon included a performance from the children at Redditch Basketball Club, who showcased their incredible skills, and live musical entertainment from JDR Trio. Throughout the afternoon, visitors enjoyed live interactive sports sessions, weightlifting, and a fun ‘guess the weight of the cake’ competition. The team also prepared a delicious Australian-themed barbecue for residents and visitors to enjoy.
Joanne Gill, home manager at Chandler Court, said: “We had a fantastic time celebrating Care Home Open Day at Chandler Court. The residents all really enjoyed marking the Queen’s birthday with a party, and the two lovely therapy ponies went down a hit with residents and guests alike.
“Care Home Open Day is all about building bridges with our local community, and showing what life in a care home is really like, so it was fantastic to see so many of our neighbours came along to celebrate with us. We would like to say a big thank you to the Redditch Basketball Club and JDR Trio, as well as the people of Bromsgrove, for joining us.”
