Hollins Park has been shortlisted in the Best Nursing Care category at the national Care Home Awards. The accolade recognises the team’s commitment to providing first class personalised care.
The Care Home Awards are held annually to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, culminating in a ceremony on Wednesday 27th June. The 17 categories highlight excellence within the care sector, and reward those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care.
Hollins Park provides personalised nursing care for up to 41 residents living with dementia, all with very specific needs. Therefore, one of the home’s priorities is to ensure the team is highly trained in specialist dementia care.
The team members at Hollins Park were praised for the high level of care provided, and their attention to detail. The team also found a way of communicating better with another resident through her love of children, and the resident is now taking an interest in the team’s families, providing her with routine and companionship.
Hollins Park also keeps on top of the latest technologies and advancement for dementia care, and recently purchased a Tovertafel, a ‘magic table’ designed for people with dementia, which has already led to a reduction in some residents’ requirements for medication because of its calming effects.
Tracy Norbury, home manager at Hollins Park said: “At Hollins Park, we strive to create a sense of belonging within the home, as well as building strong links and support systems for our neighbours. Hollins Park is first and foremost the residents’ home, and we always ensure people living with dementia receive the best possible care.
“Everyone here works incredibly hard to provide our residents with compassionate, person-centred care and I’m delighted that our efforts have been recognised by the Care Home Awards. We are hopeful that we can reach the finals and win the category.”
