Pear Tree Court helps to save lives with donation to local voluntary group

Pear Tree Court donated a cheque to a local voluntary group which is dedicated to teaching free CPR skills and raising awareness of defibrillator accessibility and use at a community level. 

Representatives from ‘Saving Lives Together’ joined the team to receive £300 having won the care home’s ‘Hampshire Hero’ competition. 

Pear Tree Court, which opened this spring, launched a competition to find local heroes who go above and beyond for the local community – with ‘Saving Lives Together’ being awarded the top prize.

The voluntary organisation enables the community to benefit from free, practical sessions, which in turn will help increase the survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.

Speaking about the competition, Pear Tree Court home manager, Ray Arnold, said: “Since laying our foundations here in Horndean we have embedded ourselves in the local community, and we wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you.

“We received some fantastic entries for our ‘Hampshire Hero’ competition, and it was really difficult to pick a winner. Congratulations to ‘Saving Lives Together’ – we were delighted to be able to show our support for their incredible work. Thanks also to our runner-ups ‘Acts of Kindness’ and ‘Kicking Cancer for Charlie’. All three organisations were so deserving of their prizes so I am thrilled we could help.

“We are looking forward to working with them all on future projects as we start a new chapter here in Horndean”.

Saving Lives Together representative Aisa Fraser said, “We were delighted to win the Hampshire Hero competition and to receive such a generous donation, which will enable us to continue empowering communities by teaching individuals how to administer CPR. The funds donated to our charity will also be spent directly on match funding a defibrillator for the local community. 

“Sessions are taking place throughout the area regularly so it's great to be able to open dialogue with more and more groups to promote live saving skills further. We are keen to build on this new relationship with Pear Tree Court, and on behalf of everyone at Saving Lives Together, I would like to thank Ray and the team at the home for their generosity.”
