Davers Court offers free advice over coffee and cake

Home news

Davers Court is launching two new monthly support groups designed to help local people caring for an older loved one.

From Wednesday 1st August the home will host a monthly Carers Café, providing an opportunity for carers to drop into the home for a break, a chat and to meet others in a similar situation to them.

The relaxed, informal café will run from 11am-12 noon on the first Wednesday of every month with no charge, and no need to book.

In addition, the care home is also launching a monthly Dementia Café, the first of which will be held on Thursday 16th August from 11am -12pm. The free, social sessions will then take place on the third Thursday of every month following this.

At the Dementia Café specialist Lisa Frain, from Sue Ryder Dementia Together, along with the friendly team at Davers Court, will provide professional tips and advice for day-to-day care, getting out and about, and support available in the local area. It’s also a chance for carers and people who are cared for to meet each other in a safe and friendly environment and share their personal experiences.

Wendy Harvey, home manager at Davers Court, said: “At Davers Court, we strive to create a sense of belonging within the home, as well as building strong links and support systems for our neighbours.

“We have built a warm, welcoming community here and we’re thrilled to be launching two, regular events to support local people in a relaxed, friendly environment. We believe that no carer should feel that they are alone and these monthly cafés offer a place for anybody within the local community to come and join us forcomplimentary tea, coffee, cake and a chat.”
