The team at The Potteries organised for three residents to enjoy a three-day holiday exploring the hustle and bustle of London and stay with friends at Sherwood Grange.
Invited by the care home in London, the residents and team members were treated to a two-night stay at Sherwood Grange, situated on the doorstep of Richmond Park. During their stay, residents spent time with their new friends at Sherwood Grange, looking out for wild deer roaming around the famous park.
The highlight of the holiday was a day trip to central London, where the residents travelled around on an open top tour bus, taking in the many sights of London including, Buckingham Palace and the London Eye. The team then arranged a surprise boat cruise down the River Thames, traveling from Westminster Bridge down to London Bridge.
The holiday came to an end with an evening spent dining at Boaters Restaurant, which overlooks the Thames.
The residents had a wonderful time on holiday at Sherwood Grange, and have subsequently invited their new friends to visit The Potteries, at the end of July.
Zita Turner, home manager at The Potteries, said “The residents were over-the-moon to be invited to stay at Sherwood Grange and spend time exploring the capital.
“Here at The Potteries, we strongly encourage activity based care as a way of the residents developing new relationships, and this holiday was ideal to do just this. The residents have made friends for life and are looking forward to welcoming the residents from Sherwood Grange to our home when they visit at the end of July.
“It was wonderful seeing the smiles on everyone’s faces when they returned from their holiday in London and they are all still sharing memories from the trip. I would like to thank the Sherwood Grange residents and team for having us.”
