Priors House stepped right up and visited Ambleside, alongside 10 other Care UK homes and the local community for a regional circus-themed event.
Residents across the Midlands chose the theme of the event, inviting the local community to enjoy a day at its very own circus to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the birth of the circus.
Guests were treated to a magical day - stilt walkers and jugglers entertained the crowd, while residents and visitors had the opportunity to master their balloon modelling and circus skills at a workshop.
Guests arrived in their best fancy dress, with prizes given out for ‘best costume’. Residents from the care homes were encouraged to makeover their circus tents and Priors House residents decorated their tent with the home’s elephant statues, traditional confectionary and resident’s craftwork.
Cake masterpieces were also unveiled with the residents at Priors House creating a Victoria sponge, in the shape of a Ringmaster’s Top Hat, inspired by the recent ’Greatest Showman’ film.
Shetland ponies trotted by to join in the fun, with residents and the local community able to meet and feed them at the petting area.
Francine Summers, home manager, at Priors House, said “We were delighted to be invited by Ambleside to join their circus event.
“Meaningful lifestyles are at the heart of Care UK’s ethos and the residents were thrilled to take part in such an exciting event. The day was the perfect opportunity for the residents to meet people from the Stratford-upon-Avon community, as well as residents from other homes – many new friendships were made!
“I would personally like to thank the Ambleside team for opening up the doors and bringing everyone together for a fantastic day.”
