There was something for everyone to enjoy, from traditional summer fête games and a magician for younger visitors, to a variety of stalls to browse and a fun caricaturist.
The highlight for many residents and visitors on the day was getting up close to some new furry friends when Shetland ponies trotted into the care home to join in the summer celebrations. The Care UK team also took the four-legged visitors around to the rooms of any residents who were unable to join the celebrations, so no one had to miss out on the fun.
Guests were also treated to a barbecue specially prepared by Snowdrop House’s chefs, while local musicians, Ware Ukulele Group and Ian Goodard, entertained everyone with live performances throughout the day.
Snowdrop House home manager, Cheryl Forshaw, said: “Hosting a summer party provides us with a great opportunity to invite the local community to join us for a day of family-friendly fun. Animals can play an important role in the lives and wellbeing of older people, especially those living with dementia, and it was heartwarming to see so many smiling faces.
“I’d like to thank everyone for joining our summer fête and getting involved in all of the fun, we hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did! I’d also like to give a special mention to our wonderful lifestyle team, Lorna, Nicole and Nickie for all their hard work in making the day so enjoyable.”
