Get creative at Cedrus House this Care Home Open Day

Cedrus House is inviting local people to join in its celebrations for Care Home Open Day.

Get creative at Cedrus House this Care Home Open Day

On Friday 28th June, from 2pm-4pm, the team at Cedrus House, on Bittern Crescent, will be opening the doors to the care home for a free family-friendly event to celebrate Care Home Open Day, a countrywide initiative to create lasting relationships between care homes and their local communities.

This year’s theme celebrates the role of arts within care, which is important in encouraging residents’ self-expression, and helps to create meaningful experiences.

Cedrus House has organised an art-themed party to celebrate the open day, with entertainment, activities and creative fun. Visitors can look forward to an art gallery displaying depictions of local landmarks by a local artist and resident art work, along with drawing and painting sessions in the garden. There will also be live entertainment from singing duo Jane and Julie, who will be performing a selection of wartime songs.

Michelle Webster, home manager at Cedrus House, said: “The aim of this year’s Care Home Open Day is to demonstrate how care homes can be creative communities, and that is exactly what we plan to do. We can’t wait to open our doors to local people, including families, and have some fun together.

“Last year we had a great time hosting a celebration of friendship and I know this year is going to be even better. We look forward to making even more connections with the people of Stowmarket and celebrating the vibrant environment in our home.”
