Bowes House care home aims to raise stroke awareness with free event

Home news

Bowes House care home is inviting the local community to its free ‘Stroke Awareness’ event.

On Wednesday 16th October, from 2.30pm-4.30pm, Care UK’s Bowes House, on Battle Road, will be joined by Kim Golding, from the Stroke Association.

Kim will be on hand to help people understand the causes of stroke and its preventions, and will discuss how a stroke can affect a loved one’s daily life and advise on the support available locally.

After the event, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Bowes House and take a tour of the care home.

Bowes House home manager, Helena Barrow, said: “Strokes are the fourth biggest killer in the UK, with over 100,000 strokes every year – around one every five minutes*.

“With so many people impacted by strokes, we understand how important it is to provide professional knowledge, insight and shared experiences, which can make a real difference. Our team here is committed to offering advice and practical support, so we are delighted to invite Kim to the home to host our ‘Stroke Awareness’ event.

“This important subject is very close to our hearts, so we look forward to welcoming the local community to the home so we can all learn more together.”

Bowes House is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care.  Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has it very own cinema and hairdressers, and there is plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation. The home has a comprehensive activity programme, offering a mix of themed events, group activities and days out.
