Care home invites Worcester residents to learn more about living well in older age

Company news

A care home in Worcester is inviting the community to its free ‘Senior Showcase’ event to find out more about the help and support available for local people caring for an older loved one.

On Thursday 28th November from 1pm-4pm, the Care UK team at Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, will welcome representatives of local services including Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society and the police, to provide helpful information and advice on living well in older age.

There will be advice on how to stay safe at home and improve mobility, thanks to practical instruction from domiciliary care and mobility specialists, along with the opportunity to talk directly to local service providers and organisations.

At the event, there will be a chance to share experiences, pick up free copies of Care UK’s helpful guides and meet the friendly team at Perry Manor to take a closer look at the care home.

Katherine Matthews, award-winning home manager at Perry Manor, said: “We know that it can be challenging to look after an older loved one. It’s natural to feel confused about the best way to help, so our event aims to offer professional knowledge and insight to those who need it – as well as providing a hub for shared experiences.

“We want people to know they’re not alone, and we’re here to offer support. We look forward to welcoming local people to the home for an inspiring afternoon of information and guidance.”

Rated Outstanding by the CQC, Perry Manor is a state-of-the-art Care UK home, which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, coffee shop and hair salon, with plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.

Notes to editors

Care UK is one of the largest providers of residential care for older people. With a talented team of over 10,000 colleagues, we operate 120 care homes with places for around 7,000 mostly older people.

Our homes provide an impressive suite of care services for older people, ranging from short respite stays to high level nursing care. We are particularly skilled at providing specialist care and support for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

We are proud to be building so many brand new, carefully designed care homes - we have opened over 30 new homes since 2011 and expect to open around 15 new homes by the summer of 2021 in locations including Bristol, Bracknell, Chester and Maidstone.

The quality of our services, as rated by the CQC in England and the Care Inspectorate in Scotland, compares very favourably with other providers. More of Care UK’s homes are rated ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ than those run by the other four largest UK care home providers.

Care UK also operates over 50 healthcare services on behalf of the NHS in various locations across England.
