How to prevent slips and trips - Ware care home hosts free advice event

Home news

A care home in Ware is inviting local people to a free event to learn more about preventing falls among older people.

On Friday 29th November, from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, Care UK’s Snowdrop House, on Baldock Street, is welcoming an expert to give advice to the local community at its fall prevention and awareness event.

Daniel Marsh, from Hertfordshire Care Providers Association, will be visiting the home to provide expert guidance on preventing falls, reducing balance problems and maintaining independence. During the event there will be a chance to learn the common causes of slips and falls, and discover ways of preventing them at home or in care - as well as advice and tips on activities and exercises that improve balance and reduce the risk of falls.

This event also provides members of the local community with the opportunity to meet the friendly team at Snowdrop House and take a closer look at the care home.

Clare Crow, home manager at Snowdrop House, said: “To prevent health issues that occasionally occur from accidental falls, it is very important to the team and to the wellbeing of the residents that we provide essential information on falls prevention. Here at Snowdrop House, we strive to provide in-depth advice to people in the local community on topics relating to our work, and we are able to do just that with the help of a specially selected expert who will be speaking at this session.

“It is imperative that we create a safe environment for older people in the community, and ensure that family and friends have the correct information to prevent accidents. We are looking forward to welcoming local people to Snowdrop House for what promises to be another interesting and inspiring afternoon of advice and guidance.”

Snowdrop House delivers a full range of residential and nursing care for older people, including short-term respite care, and specialist care for people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
