Sutton Coldfield care home thanks local community for their support

Home news

Sutton Coldfield care home thanks local community for their supportA care home in Sutton Coldfield has thanked those who have gone the extra mile to support residents throughout the coronavirus pandemic, from members of the community to its dedicated team.

Care UK’s Mercia Grange, on Lichfield Road, has expressed its gratitude for the consideration and generosity shown by the people of Sutton Coldfield over the past couple of months.

From volunteering, to delivering messages and artwork to brighten everyone’s day, individuals and organisations have pulled together to support the older members of the community, and Care UK homes across the country have been overwhelmed by the kind gestures of local people.

Mercia Grange has been inundated with support, becoming pen pals with pupils at Paganel Primary School, who wrote thoughtful letters and shared drawing with residents, and receiving warm meals made specially for the team from the Bashundora Indian Restaurant.  The team and residents have also received chocolates and treats from the local community.

Whether it’s baking for a resident’s birthday, keeping the morale up through creative activities or celebrating the home’s second birthday, team members at Mercia Grange have also been praised for their unwavering dedication and relentless efforts over the past few months.

Shirley Gibbs, home manager at Mercia Grange, said: “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us over the past couple of months, whether that be through volunteering, sending tokens of appreciation, putting pen to paper for residents or sending delicious, warm meals for our team.

“Every single thought, message and gesture has helped to raise the spirits of our fantastic team and has brightened the days of residents missing their families. It really has kept everyone going.

“On behalf of everyone at Mercia Grange, thank you so much.”

Mercia Grange is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia, and short-term respite care.
