Celebrations as Bracknell care home unveils new dementia suite

A care home in Bracknell celebrated the launch of its brand-new suite.  

Care UK’s Bickerton House, on Warfield Road, has unveiled a new dementia suite, which will be home for up to 22 residents.

The Mill Pond Suite is located on the home’s first floor and features communal lounges, dining room, as well as access to the beautiful sun terraces. The suite will offer specialist care for those living with Alzheimer’s, and other forms of dementia, by a highly qualified and experienced team who encourage residents to retain as much independence as possible in a safe environment.

Bickerton House promotes activity-based care, which puts residents’ background and interests at the heart of everything they do. The home’s lifestyle team regularly organise activities which encourage reminiscence and offer residents the opportunity to participate in hobbies new and old, often taking part in national events, including most recently the Big Draw Festival.

Erika Smith, Home Manager at Bickerton House, said: “The unveiling of our new suite is an important milestone for all of us, as it means we can now meet the demand in Bracknell and beyond for dementia care.

Opened in January 2020, Bickerton House has also recently celebrated its first birthday – a landmark occasion for the home. The team organised a socially-distanced celebration, where residents enjoyed a special cake baked by Chef, Sue Barton-Taylor, and a glass of bubbly.

The purpose-built care home has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, ‘The Heron’ pub, hair salon and café.
