A Sale care home held a special celebration to mark Pride Month.

Care UK’s Oakfield Croft, on Oakfield, hosted a rainbow-themed garden party to mark the end of Pride Month on a high.Sale care home flies the rainbow flag for Pride Month

On the day, the home’s garden was adorned with Pride flags, while residents had the opportunity to tap their feet to live entertainment from professional singer Deborah from Musical Delights, who sang a selection of favourite 70s and 80s tunes.

Residents were also treated to a tasty buffet, complete with a rainbow cake, and made the most out of the sunny weather by playing badminton and bowls.

Helen, a resident at Oakfield Croft, said: “It was a perfect day in the sunshine, singing along to some of my favourite songs, I’ve never celebrated Pride before.”

Roisin Doyle, Home Manager at Oakfield Croft, added: “We had a wonderful time celebrating Pride Month together.

“Some residents had heard of Pride Month before the event, but for many this was a first, so we were keen to host a celebration which not only promoted diversity, but everyone could get involved with. We all loved learning more about the history of the LGBTQIA+ community and decorating the home with rainbows in preparation for the celebration.

“We’re already looking forward to getting our rainbow flags out again for our next event.”

Oakfield Croft has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence. The new care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities, as well as facilities like a cinema, coffee shop and hair salon.
