South Croydon care home hosts fun-filled birthday bash

A care home in South Croydon pulled out all the stops to celebrate a major milestone with a VIP guest.

It was celebration time at Care UK’s Langley Oaks, on Langley Oaks Avenue, as residents and team members came together to celebrate the home’s 15^th birthday with the local community.

On the day, the home team got South Croydon dancing with live music from Paul Betts, singer and guitarist who performed a classic and contemporary party mix. Guests also enjoyed delicious food, including a delectable buffet of international cuisine, from Jerk chicken and Jollof rice to crispy vegetable spring rolls and mini cheeseburgers, alongside a generous selection of fresh fruit and, of course, a stunning anniversary cake.

The event also featured a very special appearance by Croydon’s Civic Mayor, Councillor Richard Chatterjee, who stopped by to mark the milestone with team members, residents and their families. 

Resident Champak Pau, 72, said: “The atmosphere was fantastic with all the music and friendly faces. It was wonderful to celebrate with everyone here we are like one big family. It's lovely to feel so connected and included in such a vibrant community".

Phoebelyn Curtina, Home Manager at Langley Oaks, said: “It’s been a fantastic day celebrating our 15^th birthday in style with our wonderful community - from the music to the decorations.. 

“Residents loved celebrating the many happy years they’ve had at the home, and sharing stories with the team about their favourite moments since being here. It’s been so lovely to see so many smiles and hear so much laughter, and see people enjoying the performances. Events like this are so important for creating meaningful moments and a real sense of community here at the home.

Langley Oaks provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while also promoting independence, the home has its very gym and beauty salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.
