Basingstoke’s new care home donates £600 to local charities

Home news

A Basingstoke care home is supporting good causes in the local community with a donation of £600.

Care UK’s Dashwood Manor, on Bradley Way, has donated £200 to Basingstoke NeighbourCare, £200 to Viables Memory Club and £200 to the Basingstoke and Deane Community Fund.

Basingstoke NeighbourCare, which supports over 500 older people in the community to remain in their own homes, will use the funds to provide a personal car transport to those in need in the local area, as well as supporting a befriending initiative.

Viables Memory Club will use the donation to support its weekly sessions, which give people living with dementia the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities that encourage and engage thought processes, as well as physical movement, for improved health and wellbeing. These sessions also provide families with respite when their loved one uses the service.

Basingstoke and Deane Community Fund, which was established seven years ago, with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation, to support social action for charities, voluntary organisations and community groups in the Basingstoke and Deane area, will use the funds to help disadvantaged people in local communities.

Councillor Dan Putty, Basingstoke and Deane Community Fund’s founder, said: “We’re really grateful to receive funds from the Care UK team at Dashwood Manor. These funds are essential for us to continue to support local people in need, especially after the challenges of the past 18 months.

“On behalf of everyone, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Dashwood Manor team for their support – we’re looking forward to building upon this relationship as the Home begins to welcome the first residents.”

Dil Perera, Home Manager at Dashwood Manor, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to donate funds to Basingstoke NeighbourCare, Viables Memory Club and the Basingstoke and Deane Community Fund.

“We understand that these charities need support now more than ever before to ensure they can continue their fantastic work helping local people. All three groups provide much-needed initiatives and services for people in the local community.

“Here at Dashwood Manor, we encourage residents to remain as active and independent as possible, and helping those in the community to do the same further supports our ethos. We are thrilled to be marking the start of a great relationship between Dashwood Manor and these local charities with donations to support their continued work in the community.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, the new care home, which is set to open on the 13th of September, will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities. Luxury facilities will include a café, hair and beauty salon, cinema and bar, and stunning gardens.
