‘I don’t feel a day over 80!’, reveals 100-year-old Poole resident

Home news

A Poole care home resident celebrated her 100th birthday on the 28th June with a special party packed with entertainment.

Beatrice Simpson, a resident at Care UK’s The Potteries, on York Road, celebrated becoming a centenarian on 28th June with a garden party full of her friends, family, and team members at the home.

Birthday celebrations were in full swing with The Potteries team going above and beyond to ensure Beatrice had a celebration like no other, complete with a buffet, balloons, bunting, and live entertainment.

Aware of Beatrice’s love for ballroom dancing, the care home team organised local vocalist, Kelly Lorraine to sing classic songs from across the decades, including an array of mix from the 40’s to the 60’s, Beatrice loved them all. Accompanying Kelly’s vocals, up and coming dancers Florence and Hugo, from DFS Street Jam, provided an afternoon of ballroom style dancing which brought smiles and applauses from residents and the team.

Raising a glass for the occasion with her care home family, Beatrice said: “I don’t feel a day over 80!”.  Beatrice enjoyed most about the day was seeing family and friends who travelled afar.

Zita Turner, Home Manager at The Potteries, said: “We always like to throw a party for important milestones, and Beatrice’s 100th birthday was no exception. With the sunshine out in full, we were able to give Beatrice a fabulous garden party that was enjoyed by all.

Beatrice brings a very special energy to the home – she’s always positive and has many incredible stories to tell. Everyone had a wonderful time celebrating Beatrice’s birthday, and she was particularly pleased to receive her official card from the Queen – we certainly marked the occasion in style!
