No sea-esta here – Ashford care home celebrates the last of summer at the beach

A care home in Ashford embraced the final weeks of summer with a fun-filled beach party.  

Care UK’s Montfort Manor, on Kennington Road took a special staycation and experienced all the classic hallmarks of a British seaside holiday from the comfort of the home’s garden. 

 

On the day, the garden was adorned with bunting and transformed into a beach-like setting with residents enjoying their own mini beach with buckets and spades included. Parasols, and palm trees lined the garden, while team members ensured the day was packed full of fun, with traditional seaside games, including volleyball and ‘hook a duck’. 

There was music and residents and team members alike enjoyed dancing, and of course, fish and chips, alongside a supply of cocktails and mocktails to keep residents hydrated for when the sun, in typical British fashion, eventually came out to play. Residents were also encouraged to reminisce about their most memorable seaside holidays. 

Roda Williams, Home Manager at Montfort Manor, said: ”Setting-sail to the garden, we decided to make the most of these final few days of summer 2021 with our fabulous beach party. 

“Our seaside-themed event created the perfect setting to encourage residents to reminisce – it was fantastic to hear their stories about their favourite family holidays spent at the coast. Our sand pit, beach activities and fish and chips lunch certainly made the experience even more immersive, the team really did a fantastic job bringing the seaside to Ashford. 

“We look forward to creating more memorable and imaginative activities that build on the seasons as we approach autumn.”

Montfort Manor is a purpose-built care home which has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for older people in Ashford, as well as short-term respite care, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own cinema, hairdressing salon and café.
