Hitting the right note! Haywards Heath’s newest care home donates £600 to local charity

Home news

A Hayward’s Heath care home is supporting a local charity with a donation of £600.

Care UK’s Martlet Manor, on Butlers Green Road, which will open its doors later this month, has donated £600 to Music for Memories Mid Sussex.

The music charity, which is run by local volunteers, provide headsets to people living with a range of conditions, including dementia, in Mid Sussex, each loaded with music they had enjoyed throughout their lives. The music is used to provide comfort and delight to people living dementia as well as to encourage memories from their younger years.

Rachel Bignell, Director and Trustee of Music for Memories Mid Sussex, said: “We’re really grateful to receive funds from the Care UK team at Martlet Manor. This kind donation will help us to continue to support local people living with dementia, especially after the challenges of the past 18 months.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to the Martlet Manor team for their support – we’re especially looking forward to visiting the home and sharing our resources with the residents once the home opens later this month.”

Debbie Wheeler, Home Manager at Martlet Manor, said: “We understand the vital support Music for Memories provides for older people in our community, and we’re thrilled to be able to help to ensure they continue their fantastic work."

Here at Martlet Manor, we will be encouraging residents to remain as active and independent as possible, and helping those in the community to do the same further supports our ethos. We are thrilled to be marking the start of a great relationship between Martlet Manor and Music for Memories Mid Sussex with a donation to support their continued work in the community.
