Special guest helps Quorn care home toast first anniversary

Home news

A care home in Quorn was joined by a special guest to celebrate its first birthday and belatedly ‘officially’ open the home.

To toast the special milestone, the Care UK team at Lonsdale Mews, on Farley Way, welcomed the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor Paul Baines, for a special garden party, complete with live music.

On the day, Councillor Paul Baines was given an opportunity to officially cut the ribbon on Quorn’s latest care home, which opened in October last year while pandemic restrictions were still in place.

After the proceedings, guests tapped their feet to live entertainment from vintage-style entertainer Johnny Victory, who performed some of the residents’ favourite songs from across the decades. To top the afternoon off, a birthday cake decorated with Care UK colours was served.

Betty, a resident at Lonsdale Mews, said: “It was such a treat to see the Mayor and be with everyone enjoying themselves at the party. All the team members do so much to make it special for us, there is always something to look forward to.”

Toby Sturgess, Home Manager at Lonsdale Mews, said: “We were delighted to mark this milestone with the Mayor of Loughborough, Councillor Paul Baines – it was great to finally welcome him on site to officially open the home one year on and now restrictions are easing."

“The last year has certainly had its challenges, and I’m incredibly proud of the team’s efforts over the past 12 months to keep life as normal as possible for residents. Our lifestyle team are passionate about supporting everyone to live active and fulfilling lives, and with our days often filled with music here at Lonsdale Mews, it seemed very fitting to have a musician to help us celebrate our anniversary. We’d also like to thank Johnny Victory for delighting us with vintage songs all afternoon."

We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next year and beyond!
