Stay tuned – live music returns to local care home

A care home in Witney hit the right note with a surprise musical tour around the world. 

The team at Care UK’s Millers Grange care home, on Curbridge Road, invited Tickled Pink Productions to celebrate the return of live entertainment to the home.  

 

Tickled Pink Productions, who specialise in care home entertainment, took residents on a cruise around the world by singing songs including ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’, ‘That’s Amore’ and ‘Viva Espana’. The singers also wore a variety of colourful outfits to make the experience even more immersive for residents, including sailing costumes and flamenco dresses. 

The show gave residents an opportunity to tap their feet and have a good old sing-along, as well as reminiscing about their travels to other countries. Margaret Taylor, a resident a Millers Grange, said: “They had lovely costumes.”

Alison Parry, Home Manager at Millers Grange, said: “Needless to say, we’ve not travelled much this year – so it was great to not only welcome entertainers back into the home for the first time in many months, but also visit far-away places through music. 

“We’ve all missed live entertainment, especially the residents here at Millers Grange, so it was incredible to see their faces light up and have everyone get back to singing along with our favourite tunes. Music can be incredibly beneficial for older people, especially those living with dementia, and Tickled Pink Productions’ show gave us a wonderful opportunity to ask residents about the countries they visited in their younger years – all while showing off our best dance moves!"
