Stroud care home shares festive cheer with paw-some local charity

Home news

A Stroud care home is supporting a local animal sanctuary through the festive holidays.

Care UK’s Scarlet House, on Westward Road, has collected a host of dog foods and treats to be donated to Teckels Animal Sanctuary.

The Whitminster-based charity rescues homeless cats and dogs, giving them a chance at a second, happy life by finding them a new forever home. Each year, they support over 400 canine and feline friends.

Sharon Morgan, Home Manager at Scarlet House, said: “Christmas is a time for giving and we know that it has been an incredibly busy year for local shelters and animal rescues – especially as we approach the festive season, which sadly means more dogs and cats may find themselves without a home.

“We all love pets here at Scarlet House, so we’re delighted to be doing our part for the community and supporting Teckels Animal Sanctuary. We hope our donations will help the animals in their care have a re-bark-able Christmas.”

Festivities are in full swing at Scarlet House, with residents at the home also keeping in touch with their friends within the community by exchanging Christmas cards and presents with pupils at Marling School, St Matthew’s Primary School and Stroud College, as well as with local group Sleigh Belles.

Scarlet House is a state-of-the-art care home and provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The care home, which features 86 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable its residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
