Party time – Halstead care come celebrates tenth birthday

A care home in Halstead has celebrated its tenth anniversary in style, with the help of a special guest. 

Residents at Colne View, on Dame Mary Walk, pulled out all the stops for a special birthday bash, ten years after it welcomed it’s very first residents.

Residents, relatives and friends of the home had the opportunity to tap their feet and sing-along to music, while sipping on a cocktail to mark the occasion. Adding some extra magic to the afternoon was a local magician, who performed a series of tricks which impressed the residents. The team also decorated the home and welcomed the Mayor of Halstead, Councillor Jackie Pell, to unveil a commemorative plaque. 

During the celebration, 84-year-old resident, Dorothy Nolan, who has lived at the home for eight years, said: “Colne View is such a lovely place to live. The carers go above and beyond and nothing is too much trouble. The party was enjoyed by everyone and it was so nice to see so many families come together in one place – long may there be many more happy years at Colne View.

Monica Boldeata, Home Manager at Colne View, said: “It was wonderful to see residents outside singing and dancing to toast our special milestone, and to have the Mayor of Halstead join us to celebrate really was the cherry on the birthday cake!

“The whole team worked hard to organise the event, and I am delighted to say that their efforts were rewarded – our birthday party will definitely be one to remember for years to come. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who makes Colne View an amazing place to call home, and for helping to make the day extra special.  

“It’s been a busy ten years. We’ve welcomed some real characters to the home, built relationships with brilliant local organisations, and worked hard to create a homely environment for everyone who spends time with us here at Colne View. We’re excited to see what’s in store for the next ten years and beyond!”
