Fulham care home shortlisted in prestigious national awards

Home achievement

A care home in Fulham is celebrating after being named as a finalist for a national award.

Care UK’s Farm Lane, on Farm Lane, has been shortlisted in the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ category in the Care Home Professional awards.

The national awards recognise and reward excellence and innovation in UK care homes with the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ category highlighting the next generation of talent who are capable of enhancing and taking the sector on to new heights.

The nomination is the result of the dedication and focus of Home Manager, Chad Bain, who joined the team in 2018 as an overseas nurse from the Bahamas. In just four years, Chad has progressed quickly through the ranks to Home Manager, winning numerous awards along the way, including Care UK’s ‘Nurse of the Year’ shortly after joining.

Since joining the home, Chad has taken a person-centred approach to his role, constantly checking in with every resident and team member to ensure they are enjoying their time at Farm Lane. Chad understands the effectiveness of an enjoyable culture and has ensured all team members are provided with opportunities to progress in their careers through training and sharing best practice.

Chad has also been instrumental in improving the communication the home has with the resident’s families. This has involved regularly meeting residents and their residents and families being involved in new projects within the home, which has recently included the construction of a bar for the residents. In addition to creating Farm Lane’s own cinema room, Chad has also enhanced the home’s catering, which now includes baking activities, food tasting sessions and themed events designed to entertain and engage residents through food.

Chad Bain, Home Manager at Farm Lane, said: “I’m delighted to have made it to the finals in the ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ category in the Care Home Professional awards.

“I’m incredibly proud of my team and everything they do to ensure Farm Lane is a fantastic place to call home. The last few years have certainly had their challenges, but the team have gone above and beyond to maintain as much normality as possible for residents.

“It is truly a pleasure to come to work every day and be part of such a fantastic place. I’m looking forward to celebrating this nomination with the residents and the team, and attending the award ceremony later this year.”

Farm Lane has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite and palliative care.
