Care home team honours colleague and raises over £800 to support local hospice

Highlighted home news

The team at a Banbury care home has raised funds for charity in memory of a much-loved colleague.

Team members at Care UK’s Highmarket House, on North Bar Place, held a community fete and raised over £866 for Katharine House Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care for adults with life-limiting conditions.

The team at Highmarket House organised the community fete specially to raise funds for the cause close to their heart – the charity which had supported colleague Jo Jennings, before she sadly passed away in May.

The fete included stalls, which sold handmade items created by residents, including fresh jars of jam and marmalade, tote bags and heat packs. Visitors also had the opportunity to tap their feet to live music from Kris Steel, who performed hits for all to enjoy.

Home Manager, Francesca Cowley, also got stuck in for the good cause, volunteering to be ‘sponged’ while being cheered on by her team.

Francesca said: "I am immensely proud of the team for coming together in memory of Jo – it means so much to us all to be able to support the hospice with a donation in her memory.

“Katharine House Hospice is a wonderful charity and we’re thrilled the community fete was a tremendous success. We want to thank all who came and supported us – we know it would’ve meant the world to Jo.”
