Lowestoft care home celebrates 40 years of care

Home news

A care home in Lowestoft has been celebrating 40 years of excellence in the care sector.

The team and residents at Care UK’s Britten Court, on Love Road, has been hosting a range of fundraising activities and events to mark Care UK’s 40th anniversary.

In honour of its milestone anniversary, Care UK is aiming to raise £40,000 collectively across its homes, to give back to local communities, charities and organisations across the country.

Getting into full party spirit, Britten Court hosted a 1940s themed event, which saw team members dressed in 40s-style clothing and enjoy some musical entertainment. The team also took on a 40-mile bike challenge, cheered on by the residents – in the end, the team’s final mileage totalled an impressive 400 miles.

The home also held a ruby red day, encouraging everyone to wear red, as well as a 1980s day, honouring the decade Care UK was founded, with a bake sale and raffle, raising a total of £312 for the home’s local food bank.

Chloe Swarbrick, Home Manager at Britten Court, said: “We’ve been hard at work fundraising for Lowestoft Foodbank to celebrate Care UK’s milestone birthday and we’re thrilled to have raised such a wonderful amount.

“Here at Britten Court, we love any excuse to throw a party and have some fun – this was a great opportunity to enjoy ourselves and do something a bit different for the residents whilst raising money for a great cause.

“We’re all really proud to be part of something so special and can’t wait to see how much money we’ve managed to raise collectively for the surrounding communities!”

Britten Court is a care home designed to deliver the very best standards of care, and to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives. The home offers a range of services including residential, nursing, specialist dementia and nursing dementia care, end-of-life, respite care and a day club.
