Stansted care home throws awards ceremony for residents

A care home in Stansted recently held its very own Oscars-inspired awards ceremony.

Care UK’s Mountfitchet House, on Coltsfield, threw a black-tie awards party for residents, recognising some of their achievements, quirks and memorable moments from the past year.

Everyone dressed to impress, and residents were invited to walk the red carpet before being welcomed to a completely transformed area of the home – where they enjoyed a glass of bubbly on arrival – the true VIP experience.

A total of 56 awards were given out over the evening, presented by the home’s lifestyle team with novel categories including ‘Biggest Cake Lover’, ‘World’s Greatest Tottenham Fans’, ‘Biggest Happy Chappy’ and ‘Queen of the Hairdressers’. 

82-year-old Peggy, a resident at Mountfitchet House, said: “The whole ceremony was fabulous, I haven’t been to an awards ceremony in years. It was wonderful to win the award for brightest smile.”

Joanna Duke, Home Manager at Mountfitchet House, added: “Here at Mountfitchet House we’re always looking for fun activities to put a smile on residents’ faces and this certainly did the trick!

“Everyone had a great time guessing who would win which award and we all had a laugh when the winners were announced. The awards ceremony provided a great way to encourage residents to think back over the past year at all the wonderful memories they’ve made and to share their achievements from 2022.

“This was a wonderful reminder of all the positives from the past twelve months and we’re looking forward to making even more happy memories with the residents in the coming year.”

Mountfitchet House is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia and short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
