‘Tis the season! Sutton Coldfield care home spreads the festive feeling

A care home in Sutton Coldfield celebrated the festive season in style with the help of some special guests. 

Residents at Care UK’s Mercia Grange, on Lichfield Road, were joined by children from Seesaws Nursery for a Christmas party to help spread festive cheer at the home. 

The nursery children visited the home to perform a selection of Christmas classics, with residents joining in and singing along to some of their seasonal favorites – including ‘Jingle Bells’ and ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’.

The children are regular visitors to the care home and enjoy taking part in different activities with residents including planting daffodils, painting sessions and card making. 

Catherine Evans, Home Manager at Mercia Grange, said: “We’re all looking forward to celebrating Christmas here at Mercia Grange, and were delighted to be joined by children from the Seesaws Nursery for their festive performance.

"Intergenerational relationships have shown to be incredibly fulfilling, as they give younger and older generations a chance to learn from one another. These connections can be especially helpful for older people as they can provide a sense of purpose and spark discussions about their own younger years. 

"We'd like to say a huge thanks to the Seesaws Nursery for visiting us, and we look forward to welcoming them into the home again in the New Year!"

Mercia Grange is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, nursing, dementia, and short-term respite care. The three-storey care home, which features 67 ensuite bedrooms, has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
