Visit real-life reindeer at local care ho-ho-home’s Christmas celebrations

Home news

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at a Worcester care home, with the local community invited to celebrate the festive season at its Christmas celebrations.

On Friday 9th December, from 3.30pm-5.00pm, the team at Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, will open the doors to the home and bring festive cheer to the town.

Decking the halls with all things Christmas, the care home team will be welcoming real-life reindeer, Rudolph, Prancer and Vixen, to join in the festive fun. Rudolph and his friends will be flying on over and making a stop at Perry Manor to get everyone in the festive spirit – with an opportunity to visit them outside the home.

On the day, Father Christmas will be sliding down the chimney to get everyone in the festive spirit, and visitors will be able to take part in some carol singing from the home’s very own formed ‘Perry Merry’ group. There will also be tasty seasonal delights on hand for everyone to enjoy – including mulled wine and mince pies.

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “The local community is a huge part of life here at Perry Manor and the relationships we have are extremely important to us, so our Christmas celebrations are a great way to say thank you for their support in recent years and spread some festive cheer.

“As well as providing a great chance for some seasonal fun, our Christmas fete gives us an opportunity to prompt happy memories of Christmas for residents, which is especially important for those living with dementia. Reminiscence activities like this are perfect for getting conversations going and sharing memories, so it’s a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get into the Christmas spirit.

“The day is set to be enjoyable for all ages, so we’re looking forward to welcoming local people to the home for what promises to be an exciting day of festive celebrations.”

Perry Manor is a state-of-the-art Care UK home, which provides full time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short term respite care. This year, members of the team at the home have been crowned winners in the RCN Nursing Awards and in the Worcestershire Health and Social Awards. Rated outstanding by the CQC, the home is designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, cafe and hair salon, with plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
