Afternoon on point! Basingstoke care home joined by community for summer festival

A care home in Basingstoke welcomed the local community to eat and dance their way into the summer.

The team at Care UK’s Dashwood Manor, on Bradley Way, was joined by the people of Basingstoke for their first-ever summer festival.

The team welcomed ballet dancers from Jenni Stafford Ballet Academy Sherborne who performed traditional dances for guests and residents to enjoy.

The festival also saw local businesses from the region showcase homemade, local products and produce including Tadley Honeybees, The Arty Turtle and the Kaylou Creations.

Guests enjoyed tasty treats, which were prepared by the home’s Head Chef. From canapes to a barbecue, there was something to tickle everyone’s taste buds – including a summer Pimms, which guests enjoyed in the home’s picnic area.

The fun-filled festival came as Dashwood Manor celebrated Care Home Open Week, a national initiative that encourages care homes to open their doors and showcase what life in a care home is really like.

Dil Perera, Home Manager at Dashwood Manor, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local community to our summer festival where we had a fun-filled afternoon.

“Here at Dashwood Manor, we are always looking for new and exciting ways to support residents to lead fulfilling lives – and what better way to do that than to host our very own summer festival.

“Everyone had a fantastic time watching the ballet dancing which offered a wonderful opportunity for intergenerational interaction, as residents, families, friends, and neighbours all came together to enjoy the festivities.

“We love to connect and build strong relationships with our local community in Basingstoke and thank you to all those who attended – we had a great day!”
