Brew-tiful way to start the day! Chester care home invites blue light workers to collect a special treat

Home news

A care home in Chester gave blue light workers a morning lift in celebration of Emergency Services Day.

The team at Care UK’s Deewater Grange, on Chester Road, invited local blue light workers to stop by the home’s café for a coffee and pastry as a small token of thanks for their hard work.

On the day, the home welcomed team members from the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and the local British Red Cross for a pitstop during their busy days. Head Chef, Lloyd Harrison, whipped up some tasty treats, which included croissants, pastries and cookies, for those who continue to play vital roles in society to enjoy.

Residents spent time with the VIP visitors chatting about their line of work and were thrilled to be invited outside for a tour of the fire truck and equipment as part of the morning.

Sally Cooper, Home Manager at Deewater Grange, said: “The work that blue light workers do in the community is invaluable, and in celebration of Emergency Services Day we wanted to do something special to show our appreciation.

“Our emergency services drop in café was an excellent opportunity to learn more about members of the community who work in blue light roles, while being able to do something nice for them as a little thank you – and residents particularly enjoyed getting to see the fire truck up close.

“It was great to put a smile on their faces, with many of them on their way home from a night shift or embarking on another busy day – thank you again for dropping by and for all that you do!”

Deewater Grange is a state-of-the-art home which provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care. The home has been designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, and incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities, including its own café, bar, cinema as well as a hair and beauty salon. The layout of the building is configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge/dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
