Eye care home day club opens in style

Home news

A care home in Eye has officially opened a day club for older people in the community – with the help of a VIP guest and some feathered and furry friends.

Care UK’s Hartismere Place, on Castleton Way, celebrated the opening of ‘The Hartismere Place Day Club’ with the help of special guest, Mayor Clive Hill.

The day club, set to be popular among local, older people, will enable members to enjoy taking part in a range of activities tailored to their interests, from baking, gardening, arts and crafts and day trips too. Members can also enjoy pampering sessions and access hairdressing services.

To mark its official opening, the ribbon was cut by Clive Hill, the Mayor of Eye, Day Club member Dick Pell, and Day Club Manager Kerry Moore.

Joining the celebrations were owls, rabbits and puppies, brought in by Evie’s Owls and Katie a member of the Hartismere Place team, for a special animal therapy session. Everyone was able to interact with their new furry and feathered friends up close and learn about their characteristics, as well as how to care for the different creatures.

Claire Martin, Home Manager at Hartismere Place, said: “We’re thrilled to announce The Hartismere Place Day Club has officially opened!

“Here at Hartismere Place, we’re keen to provide support for members of the community and the day club will offer a warm, welcoming sanctuary to many. We’re hoping the day club will be a hit among local people and it’s wonderful to be able to offer this service to those in the local area.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate, and to Evie’s Owls and Katie for bringing creatures big and small into the Day Club. We’ve got some fantastic activities lined up for Autumn, so we look forward to welcoming new faces over the coming weeks and months!”

Now officially open, the Hartismere Place Day Club will be open to the community every Tuesday and Thursday, from 9am-4pm for day and half day sessions and will open on additional days throughout the week depending on interest.
