Basingstoke care home celebrates national award win

A care home in Basingstoke is celebrating after they were recognised at a national awards ceremony.

Care UK’s Dashwood Manor, on Bradley Way, was awarded the title of ‘Outstanding Local Reputation’ in the Care UK Stars Awards.

The awards recognise individual and team excellence at more than 150 care homes nationwide across Care UK.

The Outstanding Local Reputation award recognises team which have embraced feedback, and used these insights to increase the quality of care. The judges combined the online reviews from a variety of platforms and looked at the sentiment and responses they have received, as well as gauging the strength of public opinion about the home. 

On carehome.co.uk, a relative said: “This is a different class of nursing home. We moved Mum here in February after spending a year at a different home which we felt was not delivering the personal care they promoted. What a difference! The room was stunning, the bed linen was pristine and soft, and the home just had the feel of a five-star hotel...”

Another review on carehome.co.uk said: “This place is amazing. My mother has been here for five weeks and now looks younger than she did beforehand and is smiling all the time…There is a weekly programme of events that ensures that no one gets left out unless they want to, they go on trips, have meals out and are generally living a full life. The home is always clean, smells nice and the food is excellent. It has a philosophy that they are caring for the residents but are also caring for the family as well…”

Posting on Facebook, one relative commented: “I cannot put into words or express enough how AMAZING the staff are in this wonderful caring home. The actual home is beautiful and the rooms gorgeous, but the people make it what it is. They feel like part of the family and make you feel welcome anytime of any day. There is always lots going on and the residents, who I now feel I know very well, are all so happy which speaks volumes!”

Dashwood Manor – which opened in September 2021 – is designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives while also promoting independence. The new care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities with luxury facilities, including a café, hair and beauty salon, cinema, bar and gardens.
