Hats off to Bromsgrove care home for hosting tea party fun

Residents at a Bromsgrove care home stepped through the looking glass for a very special party.  

Team members and residents at Care UK’s Chandler Court, on Recreation Road donned hats and costumes for a tea party inspired by the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice in Wonderland.  

To create a memorable, immersive experience for all, the home was adorned with decorations handmade by residents, including bunting, signs and crêpe flowers. Residents were also treated to Alice in Wonderland-themed foods and drinks, including cupcakes specially made by the home’s Chef.   

Elizabeth, a resident at Chandler Court, said: “I really enjoyed the day. I loved the way the team dressed up and the costumes, they all looked wonderful. I did enjoy decorating my own cupcake for the tea party too, we had such fun.”

Tina Lilly, Home Manager at Chandler Court, said: “We had a wonderful time creating our Wonderland Tea Party – it was a definite hit.  

“It was very much a team effort, from residents who made the lovely decorations, to the care team who dressed up as their favourite characters. Hats off to the Chef too; the ‘eat me’ and ‘drink me’ labels on our treats really made us feel like we’d stepped through the looking glass too.

“We always try to come up with fun activities here at Chandler Court, and taking inspiration from our favourite books is a fantastic way to encourage reminiscence – all while being creative and enjoying some delicious treats too. We’re already looking forward to our next tea party!” 

Chandler Court is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable its residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, café and hair salon, and there is plenty of space, both indoors and out, for relaxation and recreation.
