Care home team member raises over £6880 to support local charities

Highlighted home news

A team member at a Billingham care home has raised thousands for charity through multiple initiatives this year.

Lee Warren, Head Chef at Care UK’s Hadrian Park, on Marsh House Avenue, jumped out of a 15,000 ft high plane to raise over £1,400 for Cancer Research – a cause close to his heart. Care UK learned about Lee’s skydive and match funded the amount, bringing the total donation to £2,400.

Lee’s fundraising efforts over the past year have also included completing a sleep out for the Royal British Legion Industries (RBLI), to support homeless veterans that served in the Armed Forces and struggle to find employment, raising over £1,400 in total.

In commemoration of Armistice Day, Lee also took to the streets to sell poppies and raise money on behalf of the Royal British Legion (RBL), collecting £600.

Having served in the Armed Forces himself for 26 years, Lee regularly gets involved in fundraising for the RBL to show his support.

Upon completing a first aid course, Lee also set up a Go Fund Me page to invite online donations to be able to raise enough money to install a defibrillator at Hadrian Park’s main entrance, where it can also be accessed by the local community.

Lee said: “Having served 26 years in the army and being supported by local communities while serving, I just feel it’s right to give something back to the community.”

Jessica Brown, Home Manager at Hadrian Park, said: "I am immensely proud of Lee for his dedication to raising money to help others in need – it means a lot to be able to work with someone who goes above and beyond to make a difference.

“If his fundraising isn’t proof enough, Lee is an all-round selfless character, and is truly an asset to our team here at Hadrian Park. Congratulations on all of your hard work paying off and for raising such impressive funds for these charities – a huge well done from the whole team Lee!”
