Hole in one! Hale Barns care home raises over £5,000 with charity golf day

Highlighted home news

A Hale Barns care home has gone above par by raising over £5,000 for a local charity.

Care UK’s Halecroft Grange, on Hale Road, has certainly started the new year on a high, after donating £5,157 to two local charities. The amount was raised at a charity golf day, which was held at Mottram Hall Champneys Golf Resort.

Friends of Halecroft Grange and team members at the home made up 13 teams, who each tried their best at the 18 holes around the golf course.

The donation has been shared between two worthy local charities: Reubens Retreat, who offer practical and emotional support to families who have lost a child or whose child may be unwell. The second donation was made to The Alzheimer’s Society, which provide expert advice and guidance for those affected by dementia.

Suzi Sumegi, General Manager at Halecroft Grange, said: “Here at Halecroft Grange, we value our links to the community, and are always looking for new ways to support local people. Our charity golf day was a huge success and has certainly put everyone in high spirits for the year ahead and the community work we have already planned.

“Both Reubens Retreat and The Alzheimer’s Society’s provide vital care and research to support local families in times of difficulty, and we hope this donation will play a part in supporting their invaluable work.

“We want to say a big thank you to everyone who took part and helped raise such a fantastic amount. We loved putting our golfing skills to the test for a good cause, and we’re already looking forward to taking on our next challenge. We’ve set ourselves an ambitious target to beat already in 2023!”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Halecroft Grange, which remains open to potential residents, incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The building has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
