Solihull care home raises £3,000 for Age UK Solihull

Highlighted home news

A Solihull care home has raised £3,000 for a local charity, Age UK Solihull.

Throughout 2023, the team at Care UK’s Blossomfield Grange, on Worcester Way, raised funds for Age UK Solihull, an independent local charity that aims to help older people in the community flourish by providing free support and services across the borough.

The team and residents have been busy in the last 12 months, organising quarterly quiz nights and raffles at themed events as well as inviting the local community to their very own summer festival, BlossFest. There was food from countries around the world, which was prepared by the home’s Head Chef and local food sellers as well as live performances of classic pop songs and folk music performed by local entertainers.

The home raised £2,000 for Age UK Solihull and matching the home’s efforts, Care UK donated an additional £1,000. The team and residents awarded Age UK Solihull with a cheque for £3,000 at the home.

Rebecca Jacob from Age UK Solihull: “We were thrilled by the amount raised. This donation is very much appreciated and will go towards ensuring our services continue to support older people in the local community. On behalf of everyone at Age UK Solihull, thank you Blossomfield Grange!”

The team at the home are looking forward to continuing to support Age UK Solihull again this year.

Cheryl Harbourne, General Manager at Blossomfield Grange, said: “I want to thank everyone who helped with the fundraising efforts, from coordinating special events to those who donated funds. The amount raised surpassed all our expectations and we were so glad to be able to present the cheque to Age UK Solihull.

“Here at Blossomfield Grange, we are always looking to support good local causes especially ones that are so close to the hearts of the team and residents. Residents enjoy supporting local charities, as it improves wellbeing and provides an increased sense of purpose, as well as building relationships with members of the local community.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Rebecca Jacob and Lorraine Curran from Age UK Solihull for joining us here at Blossomfield Grange, we hope our donation will help you continue your fantastic work.”

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Blossomfield Grange incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities. The home has been configured into a series of neighbourhoods to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities and encourage social interaction among the residents.
