A care home in Thame celebrated Royal Ascot in style with a regal garden party.
Residents at Care UK’s Cuttlebrook Hall on Stock Road enjoyed their very own ‘Ascot Day’ – cheering on team members dressed as ‘jockeys’ as they rode handmade hobby horses around the garden.
As part of the event, residents placed ‘bets’ on their favourites and created signs to support the team members through different heats, with the grand final held in the afternoon. The day was celebrated in style with residents tucking into a barbecue in the sunshine and being serenaded by a singer while wearing their finest outfits and hats.
Alana Corr, Home Manager at Cuttlebrook Hall, said: “We all had a fantastic time hosting our very own ‘day at the races’ – especially under the brilliant sunshine. Everyone got into the spirt of the day, wearing their best outfits and fanciest hats. The races brought smiles to everyone’s faces, and residents loved making their signs and cheering on the team members.
“Here at Cuttlebrook Hall, we encourage residents to live fulfilling and active lives, and Royal Ascot is a much-loved event among residents. We have some keen punters at the home, so this was an opportunity that could not be missed!
“We have lots more outdoor activities planned for residents in the coming months so we can make the most of the sunshine in our beautiful grounds. The team members who organised the event did a brilliant job, and we’re looking forward to doing this again next year!”
Cuttlebrook Hall is a state-of-the-art care home which provides full-time residential, dementia and short-term respite care. The care home incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair salon and café.
