A Cambridge care home has opened its doors to the community for a day of Harvest Festival fun.
Care UK’s Heathlands House on Bullen Close welcomed their local community for a host of Harvest Festival activities.
Visitors and residents enjoyed a crafting workshop inspired by the harvest season, allowing them to express their creativity while fostering connections across the generations.
Following the workshop, the home hosted a special church service centred around celebrating the spirit of community, giving back and togetherness.
In the spirit of giving, Heathlands House also delivered a food bank donation to St Andrew’s Church in Cherry Hinton, which the local community also contributed to through a drop-off point, a first for the home.
Razvan Stanbeca, Home Manager at Heathlands House, said: “We are so pleased to have welcomed our community to Heathlands House as we celebrated Harvest Festival. It was wonderful to see the residents spend time with visitors, particularly during the creative workshop, which was a lot of fun for all involved.
“We’re also grateful to our local community for contributing to our food bank donation for St Andrew’s Church. This was a first for Heathlands House and we were delighted to see how many items were collected for such a good cause.”
Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilled lives, while also promoting independence, Heathlands House incorporates space for hobby and leisure activities both indoors and out. The layout of the building has been configured into a series of individual suites, each having a dedicated lounge and dining room to help facilitate the creation of close-knit communities.
