There were sequins, stilettos and plenty of sparkle at a St Ives care home when residents celebrated Pride Month with a glamorous game of bingo.
Hosted by local entertainer Teddi The Drag Queen, the colourful event held at Care UK’s Field Lodge saw residents and team members come together for an afternoon of full houses, with a few musical numbers along the way.
Residents enjoyed three lively games of bingo, with prizes up for grabs throughout. Between rounds, Teddi wowed the room with show-stopping performances of crowd-pleasing classics, getting everyone singing along.
The fun didn’t stop there, as the home’s Lifestyle Lead Sam Shepherd stepped into the spotlight – quite literally – donning a fabulous pair of knee-high stilettos, sparkly dress and a long blonde wig to take part in the celebrations.
Resident Pauline Cude, aged 82, said: “It was so funny. I couldn’t believe my eyes when Sam walked in dressed up in drag. He looked brilliant. A great afternoon albeit not winning a prize!”.
Linda Martinez, Home Manager at Field Lodge, said: “From the moment Teddi walked in, the home was full of energy – there were plenty of smiles as everyone sang along and embraced the atmosphere. Pride is all about celebrating joy, inclusivity and self-expression, and that’s exactly what this event was all about.
“Seeing everyone clapping along, shouting ‘bingo!’ and cheering on Sam in his fantastic outfit was something really special. Residents and the team had simply the best afternoon!”
