Worcester care home team sweeps up national award

A care home in Worcester is celebrating after being recognised for its dedication to their role to ensure that resident comfort is second to none.

Care UK’s Perry Manor, on Charles Hastings Way, was crowned as care home team of the year at the Hotel Housekeeping Honours, which champions excellence and individuals who stand out from the crowd. This year, it was Perry Manor’s dedicated housekeeping team whose exceptional standards and team spirit earned them the spotlight.

The home was praised for its exceptional standard of cleanliness throughout, which is a reflection of the housekeeping team’s attention to detail, pride in their work and commitment to resident comfort.

Resident Jackie Garratt, 78, said: “My room is very homely. I'm slowly bringing in little bits and pieces to make it feel like my home. I love the activities here, such as seated cricket, tai chi and especially the flower arranging, where you get to see what everyone can create from a bunch of flowers."

The team also ensures activities are enjoyable and inclusive. From baking and gardening, residents are encouraged to continue their hobbies and routines.

This latest nomination follows a string of accolades for Perry Manor earlier this year, including Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation and a shortlist for the Deputy Manager in the Care Home Frontline Leader category at the Great British Care Awards.

Katherine Matthews, Home Manager at Perry Manor, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have won this award. It’s a reflection of the heart and soul our housekeeping team puts into every day.

“The housekeeping team here not only work extremely hard to ensure that the home is kept looking beautiful, but the way they interact with every resident shows incredible care and consideration.

"I couldn't be more pleased with the warm and welcoming environment we have created and I am incredibly appreciative of everyone here for their ongoing commitment to helping residents to lead rewarding lives. I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped make Perry Manor such a lovely place to call home.”

Perry Manor provides residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care, delivered by a dedicated and compassionate team. Rated ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, the home is designed to enable residents to live enjoyable and fulfilling lives. The care home has its very own cinema, cafe and hair salon, with plenty of space both indoors and out for relaxation and recreation.
