A Bromsgrove care home has teamed up with the community to create a touching display for Remembrance Day.
Care UK’s Chandler Court on Recreation Road, has unveiled a poppy path in its garden, made of dozens of poppies knitted, painted or crafted by residents and local families.

The eye-catching path leads to a special commemorative plate, along a traditional soldier silhouette, in memory of those who have lost their lives in conflicts.
Margaret, a resident at Chandler Court, said: “It’s a touching display, and it reminds me of my father, who went to war. It’s good to remember them.”
Another resident at the home, Byron, added: “The river of poppies looks lovely – thanks to everyone who helped with this.”
Rebecca Pearce, Customer Relations Manager at Chandler Court, added: “The display has been a real team effort, and we’re really proud to finally unveil the result of everyone’s hard work.
"Crafts, as well as other creative activities, have many therapeutic benefits for older people, particularly those living with dementia, by keeping their brains busy and providing a sense of purpose. More importantly, Remembrance Day holds a very special meaning to residents, as many of them may have served in the forces or lived through World War Two and heard stories from their parents or older siblings.
“We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to our beautiful display by creating a poppy, and to invite everyone to come and stop by to see it for themselves!”
Chandler Court is a state-of-the-art care home that provides full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. Designed to enable its residents to lead enjoyable and fulfilling lives, the care home has its very own cinema, pub and hair and beauty salon, and there is plenty of space – both indoors and out – for relaxation and recreation.
