Sarisbury Green care home resident has wish fulfilled this Christmas

A Sarisbury Green care home resident’s heartfelt wish came true when she got to watch her daughter follow in her singing footsteps.

86-year-old Particia Luff, a resident at Care UK’s Ancasta Grove, on Barnes Lane, was recently surprised when the care home team struck the right chord with a heartwarming festive musical experience.

Former choir singer, Patricia, had always dreamed of watching her own daughter echo her notes in the beloved choir she herself sang in for many years.

The Wildern Community Choir visited the home to sing Particia’s favourite songs, including the classic ‘Silent Night’, as well as some topical Christmas carols. Patricia watched on as her daughter, Catherine, and the choir sang in perfect harmony to all the residents at Ancasta Grove.

Patricia’s wish is part of the home’s ‘Wishing Tree’ initiative, which allows residents to suggest ideas for new hobbies they’d like to try, places they’d like to visit or even activities linked to past careers. This encourages residents to live fulfilling lives – from skiing to a fish and chip supper, no wish is too big or small.

Audrey Chiduku, Home Manager at Ancasta Grove, said: “Patricia always had a passion for singing and after hearing her daughter had joined the same choir, we knew we had to organise a special performance as an early Christmas gift.

“The choir pulled on all of our heartstrings as well as bringing some festive cheer in the run up to Christmas. We were so pleased to see how happy it made Patricia and all the other residents. It was a truly heartwarming moment for all in attendance.

“I’d like to extend a huge thank you to the Wildern Community Choir and the team at Ancasta Grove for making Patricia’s wish a reality – it hit all the right festive notes!”

Ancasta Grove has been designed to deliver the very best standards of care and to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives.
