Southampton care home is bringing charities together this festive season

A new care home in Southampton is inviting charities and local organisations to join its monthly networking event. 

Care UK’s The Wickets, on Banister Road, has launched a free networking event, on the first Wednesday of every month between 10.30am–12pm, for organisations in Southampton to meet and help each other thrive.

The care home is set to open in February 2026 and is committed to creating a welcoming and supportive environment and fostering long-term connections with the local community. 

At the home’s new monthly networking events, charities and organisations are encouraged to share ideas, create partnerships and support with each other’s projects. Adding to the season’s festivities, delicious snacks and refreshments will be available for members to enjoy at the home’s next event on Wednesday 7^th January. 

Pooja Dhoot, Home Manager at The Wickets, said: “We are thrilled to open our doors to the local heroes across Southampton. Each organisation does fantastic work throughout the city – which too often goes unrecognised.  

“As we look ahead to opening our new care home in 2026, it’s important to us that we’re not just building a home but becoming part of the community. We are dedicated to encouraging tight-knit relationships and assisting those who create positive change within our city.

Designed to enable residents to live active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, The Wickets will provide full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and include its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub.
