Sutton Coldfield care home unveils wellness space ahead of World Religion Day

The ribbon has been cut on a dedicated wellness and multi-faith space for residents and the wider community at a care home in Sutton Coldfield. 

Care UK’s Bishops Manor, on Jockey Road, welcomed local religious leaders, Imam Siraj ud Din and Reverend Danny Brierley, to a special ceremony to mark the launch of the room.

The space was opened ahead of World Religion Day on Sunday 18th January, a celebration promoting peace throughout all religions as well as mutual understanding and tolerance among people of different backgrounds around the world.

The room has been designed to encourage wellness while also championing diversity. Whether choosing to use the space for quiet reflection, daily prayer or group services, it is hoped the multi-faith space will bring together different communities within the home. 

Bishops Manor resident, Cynthia, aged 94, follows a Christian faith and is looking forward to using the area.

Cynthia said: “I am really happy about the multi-faith room. It is a calm, peaceful space where I can sit quietly in prayer and take time to reflect, which feels very comforting to me.”

The room also includes exercise equipment, allowing it to be used to support people’s physical and mental health alongside their emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

Bishops Manor has a dedicated team offering a range of care options, including residential, dementia and nursing care. It even has its very own café, hair and beauty salon and bar.
