Residents at a care home in Knebworth have enjoyed a ‘novel’ afternoon with some special visitors.
Woolmer Green Brownies group joined those at Care UK’s Knebworth care home, on London Road in Woolmer Green, for an intergenerational storytelling session.

The event saw the children bring along their favourite books to read with residents, allowing both groups to share their mutual love of reading.
The residents and children also enjoyed a chocolate tasting session as part of the day’s activities.
Resident Joan Small, aged 87, said: “Children nowadays have a wider range of fun books compared with what we had before the war – our choices were limited. I’m happy to see children are still interested in reading books.”
The storytelling session sparked lively conversations, with residents reminiscing about the books they enjoyed growing up while the Brownies proudly introduced their own much-loved characters and adventures.
Daniel Grab, Home Manager at Knebworth care home, said: “We were delighted to welcome the local Brownies group to the home for such a fun afternoon. Reading together is a brilliant way to bring generations closer, and it was lovely to see residents and the children sharing their favourite stories.
“The children’s enthusiasm for their books was infectious, and many residents enjoyed reminiscing about the stories they loved growing up.
“We’re very grateful to the Brownies for visiting and we look forward to turning many more pages together in the future.”
