Residents at a care home in Ware have welcomed a group of cadets for a special display to mark Armed Forces Day.
Trainees from Ware Army Cadets visited Care UK’s Snowdrop House, on Baldock Street, where they spent time chatting with residents and learning about their experiences.

They then demonstrated their marching and drill skills before sharing stories and discussing military life past and present.
Resident Mary Grundon, 92, said: “It was lovely to speak to the Cadets about my father who served in both the first and second world wars. My father received citation from King George VI and was mentioned in the despatches. It was wonderful to see the Cadets, they were all so respectful and well presented.”
Clare Crow, Home Manager at Snowdrop House, said: “It was fantastic to welcome the Ware Army Cadets to the home as part of our Armed Forces Day celebrations. This is an important moment in the national calendar, giving communities the chance to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces.
“They put on a fantastic display and residents thoroughly enjoyed meeting them. Events like this are a wonderful way to recognise the contribution of those who have served, while also bringing different generations together to learn from one another.”
Snowdrop House is a state-of-the-art care home that provides full-time residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. It incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, and includes its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and café.
