A care home resident who missed the freedom of driving has had his wish granted by getting behind the wheel of two supercars.
Peter Kluss, 74, took to the track in an Audi R8 and a Porsche 911 Carrera as part of a special initiative designed to make residents’ dreams come true.

Peter, who lives at Care UK’s Colne View in Halstead, Essex, had previously continued driving using an adapted car following a stroke that left him paralysed down one side of his body. After moving into the care home, he no longer needed a vehicle – but said one of the things he missed most was driving.
When team members discovered Peter had always dreamt of steering a supercar, they arranged for him to enjoy not one but two luxury vehicles during a specially adapted driving experience at Dunsfold Aerodrome with Everyman Racing. The day also included a high-speed passenger ride in a BMW M135i, reaching speeds of 120mph around the race circuit.
Thanks to the adapted driving set-up, Peter was able to safely take control of both supercars and experience the thrill of the track once again.
He said: “It was absolutely fantastic. I cannot believe I got to drive two cars that I have always wanted to drive!
“Who would have thought that could happen for me? I’m so grateful for the team for making this a reality.”
Peter’s experience was made possible thanks to Care UK’s Wishing Tree initiative, which encourages residents to suggest ideas for new hobbies they’d like to try, places they’d like to visit or even activities linked to past careers. From skiing to a fish and chip supper, the programme is designed to help residents lead fulfilling lives.
Kim Richardson, Senior Customer Relations Manager at Colne View, said: “Seeing Peter back behind the wheel and smiling throughout the experience was incredibly special for everyone involved.
“Driving was something he was passionate about, and we wanted to make sure he could experience that excitement again in a safe and meaningful way.
“The whole day was unforgettable and it was wonderful to see Peter enjoying every moment.”
