Isleworth care home enjoys an afternoon of matchday magic

Football fever has officially kicked off at a care home in Isleworth as residents enjoyed an afternoon of sporting fun.

Care UK’s Charlotte House, on Snowy Fielder Waye, took part in walking football to join the nation in celebrating the huge summer of sport.

The competitive spirit was high as residents took on Care UK team members in a lively penalty shootout, with plenty of cheering from the sidelines.

After all the action, residents rounded off the afternoon with a barbecue prepared by the home’s head chef.

Resident John Hawkes, 90, said: “I loved the whole day, especially taking part in the penalty shootouts. It’s been a long time since I kicked a ball, but I still remember going to Griffin Park, the home of Brentford FC.

“It was great to see everyone enjoying themselves, and the food was good too. Overall, a great day.”

The event was part of Care UK’s ‘Goal-den Moments' initiative, which encourages residents to reminisce about cherished football memories with the local community and create new experiences together.

Elisabeta Carmen Surligeanu, Home Manager at Charlotte House, said: “We had a ball taking part in walking football and the penalty shootout.

“For many residents, football is more than just the beautiful game – it represents a lifetime of treasured memories and traditions. This event allowed us to honour these special moments and bring them to life once again.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to get the local community together for a day of matchday magic. It was truly heartwarming to watch residents reminisce and share their favourite football stories from years gone by.”
