Football fever has officially kicked off at a care home in Kidderminster as residents welcomed a local school for a morning of sporting fun.
Care UK’s Brook Court on Oldnall Road, teamed up with visitors from Comberton Primary School and team members from Kidderminster Harriers F.C. to take part in football-themed activities and join the nation in celebrating the huge summer of sport.

The event saw residents and pupils come together to celebrate the start of the football tournament and swap cherished football memories.
Players from Kidderminster Harriers F. C. joined the celebrations for a special question-and-answer session and to toast their return to the National League, giving everyone a chance to see the club’s new trophy up close.
Harriers supporter and resident Paul Bardell, said: “I can’t wait for the new season to start and to go pitch side to meet some of the players. I’m looking forward to trying out my new kit!”
The event was part of Care UK’s ‘Goal-den Moments' initiative, which aims to bring generations together, encouraging residents to reminisce about cherished football memories with the local community and create new memories together.
Emma Metzger-Minns, Home Manager at Brook Court, said: “We had a fabulous time opening our doors to Comberton Primary School and the Kidderminster Harriers F.C. to take part in a question-and-answer session, to meet the coaches and to hold the cup!
“For many residents, football is more than just the beautiful game – it represents a lifetime of treasured memories and traditions. This event allowed us to honour these special moments and bring them to life once again.
“It was a wonderful opportunity to bring different generations together for a day of matchday magic. It was truly heartwarming to watch residents reminisce and share their favourite football stories from years gone by.
“We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Comberton Primary School and the Kidderminster Harriers F.C. for joining us and making this a day to remember. With spirits high, everyone involved proved they still have plenty of goal-den skills to show off!”
